Ms. Shahnaz Mazhar

Having more than twenty-five years experience in development sector with focus on the development of women, Ms. Shahnaz Mazhar has worked with various local and international organizations in Pakistan in different capacities including Program Manager, Gender Coordinator, Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator, Community Development Manager and Education Specialist. She has worked with donor agencies like Swiss Development Corporation and international NGOs like International Rescue Committee.
The achievements of Ms. Shahnaz Mazhar are mainly in comunity mobilisation, gender mainstreaming and formation and supporting women’s organisations. Ms. Shahnaz is having experience in Livelihood Programming as well, especially the livelihood development of women with focus on the women belonging to poor households.
In her managerial positions in international organizations, Ms. Shahnaz Mazhar has been responsible for the development of strategies, planning and designing of project activities, implementation of projects, community outreach, targets achievement and monitoring and evaluation.

Ms Shahnaz is having skills to work with hard liner communities and she has worked under pressure in difficult communities of hard areas like the former tribal areas of Pakistan, where working with women was a very tough task.
Ms. Shahnaz is having skills and capacity to achieve objectives and goals within specific frameworks. She is skilled and experienced in identifying partners’ needs and enhancement of the capacity of staff of partner organisations.
Ms. Shahnaz is having skill and experience in compiling case studies and best practices and finalization of field progress reports for submission to donors.

Ms. Shahnaz, for the last two decades, has been an expert in Participatory Reflection and Action (PRA), Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Participatory Need Assessment (PSA), which are the tools of participatory needs assessment and survey.

Ms.Shahnaz has participated in more than 50 training workshops for enhancement of various skills required for development. She has facilitated over 100 training workshops in different disciplines for the capacity building of staff members of the organisations she worked in and the stakeholders.
Ms. Shahnaz is having enough foreign exposure. She has been to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, and Turkey (Istanbul) where she participated in training on PRA, Gender and community development. She also completed a two-week consultancy for the Central Asia Health System Strengthening (CAHSS) Assessment.
Because of her vast experience and unique skills and her track record of working under pressure in difficult circumstances and areas, Ms. Shahnaz Mazhar is a valueable asset of QAFELA.
